With Ako Bicol party list now in the top three party lists according to the recent Business world and Social Weather Station surveys it seems that its tactic to distance itself from Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo worked. But as it is many Bikolanos know that AKB is nothing but a dummy party list of Malacañang and it is better called Gloria Bicol party list. It will represent Gloria in Congress and not marginalized Bikolanos. Ako Bicol is composed of contractors and close Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo associate and businessman Elizalde Co is their chairman.

We from Bicol Movement for Disaster Response (BMDR) are saddened by the fact that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her economic spokesperson Gary Olivar are callous to the plight of Mayon residents who have been evacuated due to the volcano's imminent eruption.

With President Arroyo going to Hong Kong to have a vacation while many Albayanos are facing the loss of their lives and property she only showed her true nature and that she does not care for Albayanos or for Filipinos. She only thinks of what can extend her hold to power.

All the brouhaha regarding the one million peso dinner of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her cohorts stem from the fact that millions of Filipinos are starving while she is living the high life and jet-setting around the world trying to sell our country.

Essentialy Gloria Macapagal -Arroyo’s last State of the Nation Address (Sona) was nothing but a compendium of lies, half-truths and attacks on her critics. She did not even mention anything that is really beneficial to the Filipino people, the passage of the so-called Cheaper Medicines Law notwithstanding.

We welcome the development brought about by Nicanor Perlas' bid to seek the presidency and see this a sign that people espousing alternative forms of governance and policies are now coming out seeking a break from the current situation of our country.

We from the Bikolano Aliance for Nationalism against Balikatan (BAN BALIKATAN) very much disagree with US Defense Secretary Robert Gates. The only things that work in the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) is that it fosters the US trampling on our sovereignty, prostitution, more human rights violations and now even corruption.

In its latest report on Asia the IMF raised the need for governments in the region to implement measures that will boost domestic demand. It said that the Philippines and other Asian countries must rely more heavily on domestic consumption to keep their economies afloat. The government, however, is less pessimistic than the IMF and expects the country’s growth in gross domestic product to expand by 3.1-4.1 per cent this year.

We from the Bikolano Alliance for Nationalism against Balikatan (BAN BALIKATAN) call on the Senate and the House of Representatives to investigate the corruption exposed by former Lieutenant Nancy Gadian, former officer-in- charge (OIC) of the Civil Military Operations (CMO) Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) in the 2007 Balikatan Exercises in Jolo, Sulu. She accused Lt. General Eugenio Cedo, the former chief of the Westmincom of pocketing a lot of money from the exercises.

This is a reaction to the news that Mrs. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo decides to allot P25-M in solving and preventing political killings---obviously passing the buck on solving political killings to Congress. This is an aspect of Gloria’s maneuver to clear her bloodied name, but what is more insidious though is that it is the apparent mastermind of the political killings that is the one offering the reward to get the mastermind.

This is a reaction to the news article titled “Flash floods cause evacuation in Camarines Norte capital” last May 2. It is sad to say that this is just the tip of the iceberg because as of this writing, 19 have already died and 15 are still missing in the region. Barangays in Catanduanes have been cut off due to flooding, major thoroughfares in Sorsogon and Camarines Sur are no longer passable and Albay Governor Joey Sarte Salceda is about to declare the province under a state of calamity.
