Naga City (18 February 2010) -- The Commission on Biblical Apostolate (ComBibliA) headed by Fr. Jose Roberto Carpio held a Biblical Conference and Workshop at the Holy Rosary Major Seminary on February 6, 2010, attended by 70 lectors and catechists of the 16 parishes of the Archdiocese of Caceres and one religious congregation.

Preparation for 2010 polls seen crucial to social change

NAGA CITY, Feb 21, 2010-Expect the Archdiocese of Caceres to be more engaged in its prophetic function for social change.

In response to the New Year's Day Pastoral Letter of Caceres Archbishop Leonardo Z. Legaspi which called on the local Church to look to Mary as a source of hope in the midst of the country's poverty and in preparation for the coming elections, the Council of the Laity of Caceres (CLAC) immediately organized a convention of the parish pastoral councils and the religious organizations to deepen the faithful's understanding of the pastoral letter.

BACACAY, Albay, Nov. 10, 2009- At least 400 priests from the Archdiocese of Caceres and the Dioceses Legazpi, Sorsogon, Daet, Masbate, Libmanan and Virac have gathered at the Bethlehem Retreat Center, this town for their regional clergy retreat which began yesterday and will end on Friday.

The retreat is centered on the theme "Revisiting the Priesthood in the Light of St. John Mary Vianney's Life and Example."

NAGA CITY, Nov. 3, 2009─ The priests of the Bicol region is set to celebrate the Year for priests with a regional clergy retreat that will focus on the life of St. John Mary Vianney on November 9-13 at Bethlehem in Bacacay town, Albay.

The retreat is centered on the theme "Revisiting the Priesthood in the Light of St. John Mary Vianney's Life and Example."

According to incoming Legazpi Bishop Joel Baylon, the retreat is expected "to encourage our priests in striving for the same spiritual perfection on which, above all, the effectiveness of their ministry depends."

What really happened on that First Good Friday? Who nailed Jesus to the cross? It was not Pilate because he was trying desperately to find an explanation, any excuse to let him go. It was not the Sanhedrin either because they wanted him dead but they did not have the authority to order an execution. They were under martial law of a foreign power. The definitive power came from ordinary people - a screaming crowd demanding blood. CRUCIFY HIM!

Half way through Lent , we find ourselves praying for more cleansing and more purity in our relationship with God. Although lent is not required anywhere in the scriptures, it has been a custom, which Christians have practiced for most of the last two thousand years. In many languages, the word “Lent” actually means “Fast.” This is where the custom of giving up something for Lent originated.
