LEGAZPI CITY (21 July) - Of the 192 directors of agencies and division chiefs in various government agencies in Bikjol, only 69 con-current executives are Career Executives Service Officers  (CESO), this was revealed by records  of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) regional office in Rawis, Legaspi City.

CAMP SIMEON OLA, Legazpi City (23 July) -THE KILLING of two elementary school teachers in Masbate Province, the slaying of two village officials and the attempted killings of a radioman in Nabua , Cam. Sur, all occurring in July this year have become high-priority cases of the PNP in Bikol.

PNP regional office spokesman, Sr. Supt. Eliciar Bron, disclosed on Thurs. (July 22) that newly installed Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Sec.  Jesse M. Robredo had personally intervened in the probe of the murder cases with a reported directive from President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III on the immediate arrest of the suspects and subsequent filing of cases in court.

LAGONOY, CAMARINES SUR - FOUR PUBLIC School classrooms at the Lagonoy Central School at the town's poblacion area were razed by a fire of unknown origin on Sunday (July 11) with initial assessed damages reaching about P 15 million, including textbooks, tables, desks, and other classroom fixtures consumed by the blaze.

There was no immediate confirmation from the Bureau of Fire Protection and the local fire department on the cause of the blaze that lasted several hours due to the absence of sufficient fire trucks to combat the blaze.

NAGA CITY---THE REMAINS of a Korean national still lies at the JL Espiritu Funeral Homes at the poblacion of Pasacao, Cam. Sur after the foreigner had committed suicide at a local beach resort in the said town last July 1, the Cam. Sur Police office here reported last July 6.

The Local police bared that according to the Koji's Beach Resort care-taker, Francia Magsino Barrameda, 28, the Korean indentified as Seung Hwan Kim, 66, was found with a nylon cord tied around his neck and hanging inside his rented cottage at the said resort in Barangay Caranan in this town.

PASACAO, CAM. SUR (7 July) - THE LOCAL police in this coastal town is still probing for the possible motive behind the bomb explosion that occurred inside the Meinhard Generics Pharmacy at the Oliver Lee Building at Barangay Sta. Rosa Del Sur near the town's port area early this week.

The drug store which is reportedly owned by Josephine Ranido Salazar sustained substantial damage during the blast, but firm's owner had not yet declared to the police the worth of damages on the establishment.

LEGAZPI CITY-THE BINITAYAN Detour bridge linking the critical river banks of Barangay Binitayan in Daraga, Albay to six other villages has been opened to traffic for all kinds of vehicles not exceeding 10 tons in weight early this week after its inauguration last July 1.

DPWH regional director Danilo C. Manalang said the Binitayan bridge-link which started construction in March and completed at the  at the end of June this year, is also being eyed as a diversion route to be connected to a provincial road near the Cagsawa Ruins leading to the national highway.

CANAMAN, CAMARINES SUR - THE DISTRICT Engineer in the newly created Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Camarines Sur 5th district office died on Sunday, (June 20) after being confined at the Aquinas University Hospital in Legazpi City.

Sources at the DPWH 5th district engineering office bared that District Engineer Elmer P. Francisco was supposed to start his duties in the newly created district office on Monday, (June 21) after filing a sick-leave since June 1 this year.

PILI, CAMARINES SUR - THE Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) regional office has sent experts to probe a reported "fish kill" after hundreds of dead Tilapia were seen floating the surface of Lake Buhi in Barangays Sta. Elena and San Buena, villages near the town proper for the last three days.

BFAR provincial fishery officer Santiago A. Noblefranca said "we are investigating the report after TV footage on the fish kill was shown in the local news the other day."

LEGAZPI CITY (26 May) -- FOUR ENGINEERS and a driver, part of a six-man inspection team from the Quality Control Division of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Central office were reported to have been robbed by armed men at a local hotel in downtown Naga City, with some P 246,000 worth of electronic equipment, cell phones, personal belongings and cash were carted away by the suspects.

NAGA CITY (22 May) - THREE INDIAN NATIONALS have been charged with murder before the Naga City Prosecutor's Office by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) regional office in this City for the slaying of another Indian  national, Kamaldeep Brar Singh, 30, who was shot by a gunman along a commercial area of Elias Angeles St. in this City last March 30.

NAGA CITY (21 May) -- Wednesday's shooting of the police chief of Magarao, Camarines Sur at the Central Bus Terminal (CBD-2) van and jeep terminal at Barangay Triangulo here, is being linked by police investigators to the recently concluded local elections.

In a report by Naga Police Office Chief Sr. Supt. Culver Nasol Sison to PNP Bicol director Chief Supt. Cecilio Calleja, Magarao Police Chief Insp. Angeles Casaol Balla succumbed to fatal gunshot wounds causing his death at 4:35 AM on Thurs. (May 20), while being treated at the St. John Hospital in this city.

LEGAZPI CITY (12 May) -AN ASSESSMENT of Monday's polls by the PNP  regional office here reported that elections were generally orderly in the six provinces of the Bikol region, except for several incidents of intervention  by communist rebels in Albay, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, and Camarines Norte provinces. Also a PNP regional spokesman said that massive vote buying with reported apprehension by army troopers, were reported in provinces of Catanduanes, Albay and Camarines Sur.

CANAMAN, CAMARINES SUR (12 April) - DURING A BRIEF gathering of local World War II guerillas in this Camarines town to commemorate "Araw ng Kagitingan," surviving members of the once famous "Tancong Vaca Guerilla Unit" have revealed that the Department of Veterans Affairs of the US Government had denied their claims under the Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation (FVEC), to receive some $9, 000 to $15, 000 dollars in benefits from the US government.
